On Wednesday, April 2, 2025 SUNY System Administration launched the
biannual Sexual Violence Prevalence Survey (SVP survey) on the SUNY
Plattsburgh Campus. This survey invites students and employees to
voluntarily and anonymously participate during a three week period with the
intent to gauge awareness of sexual misconduct policies and campus
resources as well as to anonymously measure the prevalence of sexual
violence affecting our campus community members. Our survey will open on
April 2 and close on April 23, 2025.
The anonymous and voluntary responses to this survey provide SUNY
Plattsburgh with an opportunity to better understand our campus climate as
it relates to awareness of resources and reporting options related to
sexual harassment, dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and
stalking, and and prevalence of these behaviors. Responses from students
and employees will help us make informed decisions when it comes to
providing a safe and accessible educational environment. More information
about this SUNY-wide survey can be viewed here
<https://system.suny.edu/sexual-violence-prevention-workgroup/policies/campus-climate/>
.
To voluntarily participate, please access the email from survey at suny.edu in
your plattsburgh.edu email account which will be sent individually to each
student and employee at SUNY Plattsburgh on April 2 by SUNY System’s Office
of Institutional Research.
You can expect questions related to your knowledge about:
-
The Title IX Coordinator’s role;
-
Campus policies and procedures addressing sexual assault;
-
How and where to report sexual violence as a victim/survivor or witness;
-
The availability of resources on and off campus, such as counseling,
health, academic assistance;
-
The prevalence of victimization and perpetration of sexual assault,
domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on and off campus during a
set time period (for example, the last two years);
-
Bystander attitudes and behavior;
-
Whether victims/survivors reported to the University and/or police, and
reasons why they did or did not report.
-
The general awareness of the difference, if any, between the
institution’s policies and the penal law; and
-
The general awareness of the definition of affirmative consent.
On behalf of the Title IX Office and Office of Institutional Effectiveness,
thank you in advance for your voluntary and anonymous participation.
