*The Plattsburgh Public Library is hosting a new monthly speaker
series*, *Life-Long
Learning for All*, to help bring experts into the local community.
*Presentations
will be held the first Wednesday of each month from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the
Auditorium* (second floor) of the Plattsburgh Public Library (19 Oak St. —
on the corner of Oak and Brinkerhoff Sts.).

*The series begins on Wednesday, September 4 at 5:30 pm with Dr. Ray
Carman’s presentation “Supreme Court Year in Review.”* A flyer is attached
and here is a description of the talk:

During its 2023 term, the Supreme Court issued several consequential
decisions in important areas of constitutional law and civil rights
jurisprudence. During this talk, constitutional scholar Dr. Ray Carman,
Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science, SUNY
Plattsburgh, will provide an overview of the Court’s 2023 term, discuss
three of its most consequential cases (regulating the unhoused, restricting
guns from those with protective orders, and providing presidential
immunity), highlight a few potential cases the Court will take up in its
2024 term, and answer your questions.


Please come to this event! We would love to have great student and
community turnout! The next presentation will be on Wednesday, October 2 at
5:30 pm when Dr. Kylie King will be discussing work that explores how
Millennials and Gen Zs differ from one another and older generations in
their ideas about entrepreneurship, business, work, free enterprise,
markets, trade, redistribution, and other economic concepts.
