ENV101WB: Introduction to Environmental Science, Summer/Winter Intersession
B

This is a 5-week class that counts as a three credit Natural
Science class towards your degree. The structure is geared for “non
science” majors and uses a combination of textbook and online tools for the
learning environment. The class is broken down into five distinct week
blocks, each with its own non-cumulative exam, Live Zoom chat and
Discussion forum. We cover the major current environmental issues that we
face globally, along with how human population growth and poverty influence
them. Sections also include human health impacts and risks. This course
covers current topics, such as polar ice caps melting, bioplastics in our
food chain, risks of Climate change, and even COVID's impacts on water and
air quality. The last section examines the soil and the agricultural
practices we use to try and grow food for 8 billion people sustainably. The
class includes a “green thumb” Bonus project.
