SAFETY ALERT
TRASH DISPOSAL

Safety is always our priority and we never want to see our fellow coworkers
get injured.

Incident: Recently there were TWO accidents within the Janitorial
Department stemming from the removal of trash bags that, unexpectedly,
contained heavy objects.

Resolution: To minimize the risk of injury we are asking for heavy objects
(books, ect.) not to end up in the trash bins. This applies to trash bins
of any size, in offices, dorms, or storage areas. If there is a heavier
object that needs to be disposed of please place it next to the trash bin. This
will indicate to the Janitorial team that it needs to be disposed of while
protecting our fellow employees and minimizing injuries. As the Academic
year comes to a close, and offices and dormitories get cleaned out, there
is a higher risk of larger items being thrown out. Please use caution when
attempting to empty trash bins and be aware of what they contain to help
maintain the safety of others.
