The CEES Seminar Series presents:
*Masters in Natural Resources and Ecology Thesis Defense*
*Meghan Bargabos: *Wildlife Habitat Suitability Across a Chronosequence of
Wildfire-Origin Stands at a Jack Pine Barrens
In the northeastern United States, pine barrens ecosystems are often
relatively small patches of variable aged disturbance-driven forest nested
within a matrix of northern hardwood forest. Wildlife may, in turn, respond
in their use of this habitat mosaic that differs in forest structure and
composition. The objective of this study was to quantify forest structure
within and across disturbed areas, as well as analyze wildlife habitat
suitability across a fire-dependent Pinus banksiana (jack pine) sandstone
pavement barrens in northeastern New York. Results from this study will
help to inform management practices for this rare and unique ecosystem.
*Friday May 10*
*3:30pm. *
*Hudson 106*
*Reception prior to the talks at 3:00*
