Days of Remembrance SUNY Plattsburgh’s Commemoration of the Holocaust

The Jewish Studies Program invites all members of the campus and the
community to join us for two events commemorating the Holocaust next week.

On *Monday, May 6*, we welcome *Dr. Andrew Buchanan*, Senior Lecturer in
History at the University of Vermont, who will speak on his research as
part of the Douglas R. Skopp Speaker Series on the Theme of the Holocaust.
His lecture, entitled  “The Holocaust and the ‘Long’ World War II,
1933-1948,” will take place in the Douglas and Evelyne Skopp Memorial
Holocaust Gallery in Feinberg Library from *2:00 to 3:30 PM*. Afterward,
please join us for coffee and discussion with Dr. Buchanan in the Feinberg
Reading Room (FL 302) from 3:30 to 4:00.

On *Wednesday, May 8*, we will hold our annual Days of Remembrance ceremony
in the Douglas and Evelyne Skopp Memorial Holocaust Gallery from *5:00 to
6:00 PM.* Our featured speaker will be *Dr. Mark Richard*, Professor of
History, who will speak on “Nativism in the Northeast: A Historical
Perspective.” We will also hear from *Adeeb Chowdhury*, the student winner
of the Douglas R. Skopp Creative Competition on the Theme of the Holocaust,
who will read excerpts from his winning essay. *Rabbi David Joslin* of
Temple Beth Israel in Plattsburgh will offer a concluding reflection.

All events are free of charge and open to the public.

the Plattsburgh College Foundation. Additional assistance is provided by
the School of Arts and Sciences and Feinberg Library.
