*Homecoming 2023 is this week!*
With Plattsburgh’s alumni returning to campus October 13 through 15, it is
one of the best times of the year to meet and network with alumni and have
fun with your friends.
Homecoming at SUNY Plattsburgh has long been a time to get together, enjoy
the fall weather, cheer on our sports teams and gather at the annual
bonfire. Additionally, there's a whole lot more going on, and you're
invited!
*Friday, Oct. 13*
*“Poetry of the Night Sky: Perspectives on the Magic of the Night Sky”
Presented by Astronomer David Levy H’05*
7 p.m.
Hudson Hall, Room 106
David H. Levy is arguably one of the most enthusiastic and famous amateur
astronomers of our time. He has discovered some 23 comets, the most famous
being Shoemaker-Levy 9, the comet that collided with Jupiter in 1994.

Behind Macomb Hall (on the lawn behind the Student Health Center)
Sponsored by Campus Housing and Community Living. Pack your favorite snacks
and meet us there.
*Coffee House Open Mic Night*8 - 9:30 p.m.
Burghy’s Den, Angell College Center
Come for the entertainment or share your talent. We encourage singers,
musicians, aspiring standups, poets, dancers and anyone else with a talent
to perform. This event is hosted by the Student Association.
*Saturday, Oct. 14*
*Homecoming 5K*
9 a.m. Kids Fun Run; 9:30 a.m. 5K Start Time
Memorial Hall Field (along the Saranac River)
$5
Start your morning off with a scenic 5K along the Saranac River Trail and
down Rugar Street, through the heart of campus. Everyone who registers will
receive a t-shirt.
*Ice Skating With Burghy*11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Stafford Ice Arena, Field House
$3
Enjoy an open-skate with Burghy, the college mascot. Limited skate rentals
- all sizes. Complimentary cookies and hot cocoa.
*DEI Unity Day Party by the Pond*
Noon – 2 p.m
Hawkins Pond (rain location: H.U.B., Angell College Center)
Join the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; the Plattsburgh State
Gospel Choir; SUNY Plattsburgh multicultural student organizations,
culturally-based fraternity and sorority alumni and current members; and
the Clinton County MLK Committee for this Unity Day party. Enjoy music,
catch up with old friends, meet new ones and learn about upcoming events
and activities on campus and in the community. A group DEI photo will be
taken during this event and will be framed and hung in the H.U.B. on
campus. Free digital copies will be available to participants who attend
and sign the photo release form. Please attend in order to be part of this
momentous occasion.
*Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing & Activities*12:12 p.m.- 2:26 p.m.
Northcountry Planetarium, Hudson Hall 106 and Hawkins Pond (designated area
for viewing)
Viewing of partial solar eclipse from approximately 12:12- 2:26 p.m. The
partial eclipse begins at 12:12 p.m. The max eclipse will take place at
1:18 p.m. and will show 17-18% solar coverage. During this timeframe, the
planetarium invites children and their families to join in eclipse-based
activities, including the opportunity to build a solar eclipse viewer, try
out eclipse glasses, and safely observe with their shielded telescopes, and
learn how to take a sun image with a cell phone.
This eclipse will be a warm-up act for the total solar eclipse crossing the
United States 177 days later on April 8, 2024, with SUNY Plattsburgh
directly in its path! To learn more about festivities the university is

Join alumni, students, faculty, staff, neighbors and friends as we get in
the fall spirit with some lively music from DJ Johnny Z '14 and seasonal
treats. *Weather permitting*.

*DEI Jazz Brunch*
10 a.m. – Noon
Warren Ballroom, Angell College Center

Close Homecoming Weekend by attending this uplifting Jazz Brunch hosted by
the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; the Plattsburgh State Gospel
Choir; and the Plattsburgh College Foundation. Students, employees, alumni,
community members, partners, spouses and children are welcome to attend.
There will be live jazz and a performance by the Plattsburgh State Gospel
Choir. A southern-style brunch will be served. Get your dancing shoes ready
and bring your appetite. Wear your red, white and black attire.
