Project HELP and Hospice of the North Country are looking for students,
faculty or staff who will be in Plattsburgh for the summer who are
interested in going through their orientation and training which would then
allow you to take on volunteer assignments on an on-going basis throughout
the year or during school breaks. This opportunity allows flexibility with
class schedule, work schedule, and workload schedule.

Hospice volunteers can provide:

Office support*
Answer phones M-F between hours of 8:00 – 4:00. Most volunteers do 2-4 hour
shifts.

Miscellaneous Agency Support
Assist with mailings (3-4x a year)
Help with landscape needs
Assist with our fundraising event at the mall (Light Up a Life 12/1-12/24
opportunities)

Patient Support*
Sit with patients in their home settings (Clinton County)
Prep meals (warm up, cook, etc.) for patients
Play music or do crafts with those capable
Provide respite to caregiver(s)

*Each volunteer would need to complete the orientation and training and
submit mandated background and medical information. (You can claim the
training hours as volunteer hours through Helper Helper, as well.) The
number of volunteer hours could be as few as 4 hours a month. However,
annual refreshers (much simpler than onboarding) could make this an
opportunity that encompasses your entire collegiate experience.

If you are interested in more information or signing up, contact Julie
Rowe, Hospice of the North Country, at 518.561.8465 or jrowe at hospicenc.org.
