*Citing your sources correctly* is an essential component of your college
research projects. It shows that you’re a responsible researcher and that
you have located appropriate and reputable sources that support your thesis
or claims.

If you want to make sure you know the right way to cite sources in your
papers, then check out our upcoming *workshops on citation styles and
software*.

Feinberg Library <https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/library/index.html>
and the Learning Center
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/academics/resources/learning-center/index.html>
are co-sponsoring these workshops to help you acquire or brush-up on
must-know citation information. All workshops will take place in *Feinberg
room 108 from noon to 1 p.m. *

*APA Workshops.* The APA style is commonly used for citing sources within
the field of behavioral and social sciences, including sociology,
education, health sciences, criminal justice, and psychology.

   - APA Workshop 1 -- October 31st
   - APA Workshop 2 -- November 15th

*Zotero Workshops.* Zotero is a free citation-management software program
that lets you store and organize references.
This tool helps you organize your research in any way you want. You can
sort items into collections and tag them with keywords, or create saved
searches that automatically fill with relevant materials as you work.
*Note:* We invite you to bring your own computer to this workshop, and to
install Zotero and the application's browser connector ahead of time using
the links at https://www.zotero.org/download/

   - Zotero Workshop 1 -- November 3rd
   - Zotero Workshop 2 -- November 16th

*MLA Workshops. *The MLA style is most often used when writing papers and
citing sources in the liberal arts and humanities fields.

   - MLA Workshop 1 -- October 24th
   - MLA Workshop 2 -- November 14th

*Which citation guide is the one I need? *The answer is, the one my
instructor is requiring for my assignment. So be sure to check with your
instructors before writing your papers. You can also review Feinberg
Library's Research Guides index
<https://researchguides.plattsburgh.edu/?b=g&d=a>, which provides links to
requirements by academic subject.
