Take the Information Literacy Competency Exam

The *Information Literacy Competency Exam* is an alternative way for you to
meet your LIB190 course requirement. It's available for you to take online
this fall from *Monday, Oct. 31st to Friday, Nov. 18th.*
*About the Exam*
If you already have a passing grade for the LIB course, you do not need to
take this exam.
- By passing the exam, you meet the Information Literacy General
Education/Cardinal Core requirement, but do not receive the credit hour.
- Students who have a grade of E or W for the LIB course can meet the
requirement by passing the exam. Note that the exam does not remove or
replace a letter grade.
- Students can take the exam more than once, but only once in any
academic year (August–May).
*How to take the Exam*
The exam will be *available online in Moodle *from *Monday, October 31st to
Friday, November 18th*.
- Self-enroll for the exam by visiting the Information Literacy Exam
Moodle site <https://moodle.plattsburgh.edu/course/view.php?id=29281> during
the listed exam-availability dates.
- The exam has 47 questions. You have one hour to complete it (unless
you are eligible for extended time. (See below).
*Option for Extended-Time Testing*
This option is available only for students who are qualified and registered
with the campus Student Accessibility Services

- *Follow these steps to be considered for extended-time testing:*
1. Begin by self-enrolling on the Exam Moodle site

2. Next, complete our Verification Form
<https://forms.gle/G3haLo9ykREuNMPaA>. Once we verify your eligibility with
the SAS Office, we will send you an email confirmation (usually within
24 hours). You can then take the exam with your designated extended time
to complete it.
