A conversation with Dr. Michelle Bonati
Institute for Ethics in Public Life
Wednesday, February 23, 2022
Noon over Zoom: https://bit.ly/3gWojg6
In October 2021, SUNY Plattsburgh was selected by the American Association
of Colleges and Universities and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to host a new
Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center .
SUNY Plattsburgh now counts among the 48 TRHT Campus Centers nationwide.
The college was the only SUNY campus to be selected in the process. SUNY
Plattsburgh is partnering with the AAC&U and W.K. Kellogg Foundation to
pursue “a shared goal of preparing the next generation of leaders and
thinkers to break down racialized practices and to dismantle the belief in
a hierarchy of human value” (AAC&U, 2021). SUNY Plattsburgh is already
engaged in conversations that will challenge and dismantle historical
racial narratives and systems.
Dr. Michelle Bonati, a member of the college’s education faculty and TRHT
Center campus lead, will introduce the center to us and talk about its
origins. She will also lay out the principles underpinning the center's
work and describe the goals and expectations for the center.
Ethics Institute colloquies are open to the entire SUNY Plattsburgh
community.
The Institute for Ethics in Public Life is supported by generous gifts to
the Plattsburgh College Foundation.
For further information about the Institute, contact Dr. Jonathan Slater,
director, at slaterjr at plattsburgh.edu.
