SMIF invitation

I invite all SBE students to participate in the Student Managed Investment Fund  (SMIF) during this Spring semester. In order to set up the schedule, SMIF invites you to a first meeting on Wednesday, February 9th from 12 pm - 1pm in the Bloomberg Lab (first floor in Ausable Hall). The plan is to see who is really interested and then set up a meeting time that works for everyone.

SMIF has restarted last semester in September after a 2 year break due to Covid. We started with $12,000 and right now we have a little over $13,000 ($13,126 to be more exact). This amounts to an overall return of 18.5% over the period and as the attached graph shows, we have significantly outperformed all major indexes and markets. We use a mix of fundamental and technical analysis. Even if you have zero knowledge or trading experience, we will show you what our strategy is and how we implement it. 

We hope to see as many of you there as possible, since our strategy requires quite a bit of research. The added bonus is that through this process you will learn not just how to trade, but also how to use the Bloomberg terminal and become a “chartist”.
