SOLIDARITY OPEN MIC NIGHT

The disturbing news that has circulated around the U.S of the Gabby Petito
case is one that is heavy and hard. The worst part of it all is that her
case was the only one of many that made national news and headlines whereas
roughly 710 other reported cases in the same area of missing and murdered
womxn/girls, did not.

These individuals were indigenous, black, and brown womxn/girls of color.
We wondered with you, “When will their stories be heard?”, “Where is their
justice?”, “Where is their moment of silence?”.

In remembrance and in solidarity of the missing/murdered indigenous womxn
and other womxn of color, FUERZA: The Black and Latinx Student Union will
be hosting a Solidarity Open Mic event this Friday October 1st at 7pm. We
are providing a shared and safe space of grief, remembrance, and
recognition to those the United States failed to bring justice to. Our
sisters.

We encourage people to come, show solidarity, and speak on behalf of these
horrific events that have surfaced to our attention. Remember, we are a
community and we are all in this together. We hope to see you there!
