Special Circumstance For Financial Aid

[SUNY Plattsburgh Student Financial Services]

A change in financial circumstances can sometimes impact a family’s ability
to afford college.  If your financial situation has changed since 2019, due
to the COVID-19 pandemic or for other reasons, a student or parent can
request a re-evaluation of a federal financial aid package via a request
for special circumstance. Depending upon the original results of the FAFSA
and the magnitude of change, completing a special circumstance could result
in a positive financial aid impact or no impact at all.

taking the time to collect the required documentation and submit the
paperwork.
