There will be an informal information session for SUNY Plattsburgh students
interested in participating in the campus Hillel this academic year. The
meeting will take place on Thursday evening, September 9, over Zoom – time
to be announced. We’ll be joined by current Hillel students and a few
alumni. Please contact Hillel’s faculty adviser Dr. Jonathan Slater for
further information (slaterjr at plattsburgh.edu) and to acquire the meeting
time along with access to the link. Also note that the two days of Rosh
Hashanah begin on Monday, September 6 at sundown. Yom Kippur starts on
Wednesday, September 15 at sundown. Students are invited to attend High
Holy Day services at Temple Beth Israel of Plattsburgh either in person or
online. For a full schedule of religious services for both Rosh Hashanah
and Yom Kippur, contact Dr. Slater. Time away from class in order to
observe a religious holiday is considered an excused absence. To learn more
about High Holy Day services at TBI, communicate with Rabbi David Kominsky (
rabbi at plattsburghtbi.org), co-adviser to campus Hillel.
