Dear Students,

I imagine that you have seen the grand jury decision that was handed down
on Wednesday September 23, related to the killing of Breonna Taylor. This
has caused a level of uneasiness for many members of our campus community.
To address the feelings of anxiety, numbness, hopelessness, sadness and
terror that some of our students and employees expressed to me today, I
would like to create a space to process those feelings and to care for each
other.

Today, Friday September 25, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. we will meet
virtually for a Racial Violence Processing Space.

We will provide separate dedicated spaces for employees and students based
on their racial identities to allow them to be with their peers. At the
end, we will join each other in solidarity on Rugar Street.

Please sign up using the respective links below. The zoom link for each
space will be sent by 11:30AM.

*People of Whiteness (POW) <https://forms.gle/6sAm1xNT3JYwM2Uy9>*

At 12:45 PM there will be an opportunity to show solidarity for our BIPOC
community. We will line Rugar Street while strongly observing social
distancing and wearing masks. This act will demonstrate our support for our
BIPOC students, faculty, alumni and community members.

We ask that you come with the attached BIPOC lives matter poster printed to
hold as a sign of solidarity.
