Fitness Center Reopens

We are pleased to announce to the student community that the Fitness Center
Program is opening Monday, September 14th.
Hours of operation and group exercise class programming will be modified to
start with hopes to expand offerings based on demand.
The following protocols to open and stay open are mandated by New York
State and the Department of Health:
- capacity is limited to 33% of maximum occupancy (Memorial Hall facility
will max out at 31 members);
- patrons will be screened as they enter the facility (Affirm you have
completed your online health screening form);
- patrons must bring their SUNY ID and swipe in (ID's will be required for
contact tracing purposes - no exceptions);
- patrons must wear an acceptable face-covering even while exercising (no
gaiters, bandanas or buffs for coverings);
- patrons must maintain at least 6ft. of social distance (equipment has
either been spaced out accordingly or cannot be used);
- patrons must clean/sanitized equipment they use prior to and after their
use (disinfectant spray/wipes provided);
- locker room and shower use are not available (you are allowed to bring
one duffle/backpack into the facility);
Additionally, it is recommended you bring a water bottle and a sweat
towel. Our staff will assist you to the extent possible with orientation
and training however, we will not be taking appointments for the time
being. You should also be aware that the operation of our Hood Hall
facility and Climbing Wall are suspended at this time and our spinning and
cardio-kickboxing components of our group exercise class offerings are now
located at Algonquin Hall due to Memorial Hall construction.
*Please enter the building on the lower level side entrance (parking lot
facing Harrington Hall).
*Fitness Center Hours of Operation Memorial Hall (Week of 9/14): *
Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 7:00pm
Saturday: 11:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday: Closed
* The facility will close from 2:00-3:00pm during the week for deep
cleaning.
*Group Exercise Class Offerings (Week of 9/14):*
Monday: 12:00pm - Cardio/Core/Yoga (outdoors or studio in Memorial)
Monday: 7:00pm - Spin (Algonquin Hall)
Tuesday: 12:00 - Strength/HIIT (outdoors or studio)
Tuesday: 5:00pm - Yoga (studio)
Wednesday: 12:00pm - Yoga (outdoors or studio)
Thursday: 12:00pm - Cardio/Core/Yoga (outdoors or studio)
Thursday: 5:00pm - Yoga (outdoors or studio)
Friday: 3:00pm - Spin (Algonquin Hall)
*Class size limited to 14 participants. Registration necessary.
*All group exercise class participation will require SUNY ID's be presented
and you must pre-register for a session on IMLeagues (
www.IMLeagues.com/plattsburgh). You will need to set up an account if you
don't already have one. You must bring your own yoga mats as equipment will
not be issued.
Finally, you should be aware that exercising with a face mask indoors will
be a different experience and you should be prepared to adjust your level
of exercise intensity accordingly. Recent research/survey results have
shown that the incidence of Covid spread in gyms and fitness centers is
many more times less likely to occur than anywhere else however,
vigilance on everyone's part will be necessary to ensure a positive fitness
experience for the campus community.
