*LAS111 Web: Introduction to Latin America Winter Session 2021*
For anyone looking for a quick & interesting three General Education
credits, there are spaces left in Introduction to Latin America, LAS
111WB1, CRN# 1042 this winter. Since we're all going to be a little less
social this holiday season, maybe a five-week class could help you put your
free time to use? Classwork is online and asynchronous, starts on Dec 21st,
and is 5-weeks long, with no due dates on Dec 25th or January 1st.
The class is an overview of Latin American history and modern news issues,
with a focus on environmental, gender and human rights. Instructor-provided
(FREE) sources include articles, historical texts, and short and feature
films. Topics include immigration, Afro-latino communities, reproductive
rights, indigenous rights and history, drug supply chain and trafficking,
as well as others. Students will pick a topic of personal interest for
ongoing research.
