I hope you’re doing well!


I’m reaching out to share an excellent hands-on experiential learning
opportunity for students in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human
Services, Counseling, and related programs.


Special Olympics New York will be offering Strong Minds, a mental wellness
education and screening station, as part of the 2026 Fall State Games!


Strong Minds focuses on emotional wellness, stress management, and positive
coping strategies for individuals with intellectual and developmental
disabilities (IDD). We are currently seeking student volunteers to support
this station.


Volunteer Opportunity:

Where: Glens Fall City Park

When: Friday, October 16th, 2026, from 3:30pm-7:30pm


Why This Is a Valuable Experience for Students


Volunteering with Strong Minds provides students with:

   -

   Direct experience engaging with individuals with intellectual and
   developmental disabilities (IDD)


   -

   Exposure to mental wellness education and health promotion


   -

   Meaningful service-learning aligned with academic coursework


   -

   Verification/sign-off for volunteer or fieldwork hours


   -

   The opportunity to be part of a large-scale, inclusive community health
   event


This opportunity is especially well-suited for students interested in
mental health education, disability inclusion, behavioral health, community
health, or program delivery.
