Works of art displayed in *Museum Without Walls* can take on new meaning as
the world around them changes, and William King’s monumental sculpture,
*Amitié*, offers a compelling example. Selected as a university-wide
sculptor-in-residence in 1973-74, King was commissioned to create outdoor
sculpture for SUNY campuses across New York. For SUNY Plattsburgh, King
designed a sculpture symbolizing the spirit of friendship between Canadians
and Americans in the North County. More than 50 years later, *Amitié*
invites us to reconsider that enduring bond through the lens of the present
moment.
