Giiwedin Indizhinikaaz: two spirit Anishinaabe influencer

Indigenous creator from the Anishinaabe Tribe, Giiwedin Indizhinikaaz, is a
Two-Spirit, indigenous
rights activist who was included in GLAAD’s 20 under 20 BIPOC honorees in
2022. With over 400,000
followers on TikTok, they invite you to learn about the Ojibwe language,
culture and the Two Spirit identity.
They invite viewers to learn about indigenous, pre colonial concepts of
gender that recognize multiple
identities and fall outside of the dominant western gender binary.

A series of sessions that center Indigenous knowledge, community care, and
anti-colonial
approaches to living will be offered at the following dates and times:

*MONDAY, APRIL 13*

4pm: Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center
Giiwedin shares their journey of using social media to celebrate two-spirit
identity, the
importance of cultural preservation, and the power of storytelling.

*TUESDAY, APRIL 14*
BEYOND THE BINARY: GENDER IDENTITY, EXPRESSION AND EXPERIENCE
Panel Discussion

Exploring transgender and nonbinary experiences at a time when gender
identity is at the center of
many national debates.

Giiwedin (they/them) is an Ojibwe Two-Spirit Influencer who uses social
media to share about their
culture, indigenous and environmental issues, and queer indigenous history
and acceptance.
