Effective March 9, 2026, the office of Human Resource and Payroll Services
at SUNY Plattsburgh is implementing several organizational changes designed
to better serve our campus community. These adjustments align the
strengths and expertise of our team members with departmental priorities,
enhance customer service, and strengthen our support of campus initiatives.
What is Changing
Tori Goddeau <tgodd002 at plattsburgh.edu>, Office Assistant 2
Tori now provides direct support to the Benefits & Leave Administrator and
supplemental support to the Recruitment and Onboarding Partner, as well as
assistance to the department overall. This focused approach enhances
operational efficiency, strengthens customer service delivery, and ensures
responsive, high-quality support for campus initiatives and strategic
priorities.
Michelle Trombley <mboye001 at plattsburgh.edu>, Assistant Director
Michelle serves as the campus Labor and Employee Relations consultant. She
also provides leadership in performance management, develops and delivers
supervisor training, and serves as the campus ADA Coordinator. Michelle
assists the Assistant Vice President in overseeing day-to-day operations of
the department, serving as a resource to HR & Payroll staff and campus
stakeholders.
Trisha Trombly <ttrom009 at plattsburgh.edu>, Recruitment and Onboarding
Partner
Trisha serves as the primary campus resource for recruitment and
onboarding, providing comprehensive guidance and support to search chairs,
hiring authorities, and departments throughout the hiring lifecycle. She
also meets with all finalist candidates providing a personal overview of
the full compensation package SUNY Plattsburgh offers, and manages
immigration processes for employees who require sponsorship.
Sydney Wise <swise004 at plattsburgh.edu>, Payroll Assistant
We are pleased to welcome Sydney to our team. A SUNY Plattsburgh graduate,
Sydney serves at the front desk, welcoming employees, students, and
visitors while assisting with questions, documentation, and general office
support.
What Remains the Same
Alyssa Bordeau <abord008 at plattsburgh.edu>, Benefits and Leave Administrator
Alyssa oversees the administration, coordination, and compliance of
employee benefits and leave programs. She serves as a primary resource for
faculty and staff regarding benefits enrollment and leave entitlements,
ensuring accurate application of policies, collective bargaining
agreements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Keiley DeGroodt <kdegr001 at plattsburgh.edu>, Payroll Examiner 1
Keiley administers payroll processes for Federal Work-Study and temporary
student employees, ensuring accurate and timely compensation in accordance
with campus policies and applicable regulations. She monitors time and
attendance reporting, reviews payroll entries for accuracy, and processes
payments and adjustments as needed.
Taylor Hughes <tpeet002 at plattsburgh.edu>, Appointment & Classification
Analyst
Taylor manages the full lifecycle of appointment processing, including
renewals and non-renewals, and conducts classification and compensation
analysis for unclassified positions. She ensures compliance with SUNY Board
of Trustees Policies, Civil Service Law, collective bargaining agreements,
and campus guidelines.
Martha Poland <polandml at plattsburgh.edu>, Payroll Examiner 2
Martha is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee
appointments, pay transactions, and related payroll actions in accordance
with applicable policies, procedures, and contractual requirements. She
ensures compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations while
maintaining the integrity of payroll data and systems.
Sarah Reyell <reyellsg at plattsburgh.edu>, Assistant Vice President
Sarah leads the department and oversees all HR and Payroll functions. She
serves as a strategic partner to campus leadership and is a member of the
Administration and Finance leadership team, responsible for departmental
and divisional strategic planning. She also remains committed to
supporting employees as they transition into retirement.
Ashley Waldron <wald1168 at plattsburgh.edu>, Office Assistant 3
Ashley provides direct support to the Assistant Vice President and plays a
key role in ensuring smooth departmental operations. She leads recruitment
and appointment processes for classified employees, including
administrative, maintenance, and security positions. Her expertise in
Civil Service Law enables her to navigate complex hiring requirements and
develop effective solutions for filling challenging vacancies.
Looking Ahead: Upcoming Enhancements
Last fall, the campus introduced a formal evaluation process for
Management/Confidential (M/C) employees. This initiative strengthens our
current performance management practices and is designed to enhance
accountability, support professional development, and improve overall
organizational effectiveness. Implementing this process will also help
ensure our campus aligns with practices across other SUNY institutions.
This new process is scheduled to begin June 30, 2026.
In addition, we have recently finalized a contract with Hirezon, which will
replace PeopleAdmin for our Applicant Tracking System software. This
transition represents a strategic, cost-effective investment in the
university’s recruitment and onboarding operations. Hirezon offers clear
financial advantages, enhanced functionality (particularly through its
onboarding module) and a demonstrated commitment to serving the
higher-education community. To ensure a smooth and successful transition,
we are committed to supporting the campus community with comprehensive
training and resources. Over the coming months, we will offer hands-on
training sessions, detailed user guides, and ongoing support to help
employees become confident and proficient with the new system. We
anticipate that the new software will be implemented by July 1, 2026.
