Reminder – Ethics Guidance on Gifts, Travel, Training and Updated Ethics Resources

Administration & Finance would like to remind employees of key ethics
requirements and announce updates to the Ethics webpage

to support employee awareness and compliance with New York State ethics
standards.

As employees of SUNY Plattsburgh and New York State, all employees are
expected to conduct University business with integrity and avoid situations
that create actual or perceived conflicts of interest.

Gifts and Benefits
Employees are prohibited from soliciting or accepting gifts, favors, meals,
entertainment, services, discounts worth more than $15. You must avoid
accepting anything that could create the appearance of influencing or
rewarding the performance of your official duties. Employees should
exercise caution when interacting with vendors, contractors, current or
prospective business partners, and individuals who may benefit from
University decisions.

Travel and Sponsored Activities
Any travel or reimbursement for official university business must strictly
follow SUNY and New York State requirements. Employees should review ethics
requirements regarding travel-related benefits such as lodging, meals,
conference attendance and sponsored travel. Employees must not accept any
sponsored travel or activities from external parties without first
consulting the Campus Ethics Officer.

Annual Ethics Requirements
Employees are responsible for completing required annual ethics training
through COELIG. Next Training on campus, August 20th 9 am Zoom Register here

The Ethics webpage has been updated to provide employees with easier access
to:
• Ethics guidance and employee responsibilities
• Annual ethics training information
• Financial Disclosure Statement (FDS) information
• Honorarium guidance and request forms
• Ethics forms and resources

Questions and Resources
Employees are encouraged to review available resources on the newly
updated SUNY
Plattsburgh Ethics webpage
