*L**everaging invasive species data to inform natural resource management*


The New York Natural Heritage Program (NYNHP, a program of SUNY-ESF)
manages datasets on New York’s biodiversity on behalf of the NYS Department
of Environmental Conservation. This includes mapping rare, threatened, and
endangered plants and animals as well as administering the statewide
invasive species database, iMapInvasives. NYNHP also develops analyses and
tools to derive insights from these datasets to inform natural resource
management across the state. This talk will focus on work analyzing and
visualizing invasive species data alongside other datasets to inform
invasive species management strategies and priorities. For example, we are
currently analyzing intersections of invasive species with rare,
threatened, and endangered species to assess invasive species impacts on
biodiversity and empower partners to direct their invasive species
management efforts to projects most beneficial to native species and
ecosystems.
