Greetings!

I hope all is well with you. On behalf of the Orientation & Welcome Week
Planning Team, I want to express our immense gratitude for all that was
done to make the University's Welcome Week a success. We could not have
done it without the campus-wide support you so graciously provided. Thank
you!

*New this year!*

   - *Welcome Week Picnic Location*. I would like to thank those involved
in supporting the idea of moving the picnics to the space in front of Kent
Hall. The new space seemed to be a more central, visible, and
accessible location and with the amazing efforts by Chartwells, I think we
may have found our new location moving forward.
   - *Field House Check-In Flow*: We adjusted our layout to improve flow
   and participant satisfaction.
   - *Traffic Flow*: UPD implemented a new method to coordinate traffic
flow from the Field House to the identified lots and roadways on campus.
These efforts along with Lots 27 & 28 being back online made for a MUCH
smoother parking experience for all involved.
   - *Academic Onboarding Day*: Academic Affairs incorporated various
changes in their offerings for Thursday. One significant change was
shifting the Class Photo and Matriculation Ceremony to start the day vs.
ending the day with it which is how it has been for many years. I believe
this greatly assisted in generating a positive and enthusiastic tone for
what the students would experience that day with their faculty members.

Lastly, I'd like to personally say that it was heart-warming and inspiring
to see our campus community, as a whole, come together over the course of
the week (AGAIN) to connect and support not only our new students and their
families but each other as well. As the saying goes, "It takes a
village..." and I think our campus community continues to truly embody that
sentiment which I believe will result in our new students articulating
that...:

· they feel they belong here.
· they had a positive experience and are optimistic about their time at
SUNY Plattsburgh.
· they had opportunities to meet and connect with others.
· they have a greater awareness of the resources available to support them.
· they had a positive academic transition and
· their families trust that the University is here for them.

Our planning team will carry out our assessment efforts over the course of
the fall semester. That data will be used to provide an enhanced experience
for all next year. We look forward to improving upon what we accomplished
this year. Please don't hesitate to send any feedback you have to (

Sincerely,

~Larry
