Please be reminded of the following as it relates to inclement weather:
Decisions to cancel or delay classes will be made as early as possible,
preferably before 6 a.m. so notification to the students and employees can
be made as soon as possible. When classes are canceled during normal
business hours, notification to the campus and the media will be issued as
soon as possible as well.
Faculty, staff and students will be able to ascertain the status of classes
on these days through several channels of communication:
1.
A message will be sent to the campus community via email as an
Emergency/Critical Announcement.
2.
Employees can call the SNOW Line (564-7669) for the status of campus
activities.
3.
An announcement will be placed on the homepage www.plattsburgh.edu
4.
Radio and television will be notified as soon as a decision is made. For
more information on the stations notified, go to Absences for
Extraordinary Weather Conditions Policy | SUNY Plattsburgh
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/administration-finance/management-services/campus-handbook/section-iv-employment-benefits/absences-for-extraordinary-weather-conditions-policy.html>
5.
In the residence halls, posters will be placed on entry doors announcing
the cancellation of classes due to inclement weather.
Students, faculty and staff are advised that weather conditions may not
lead to the cancellation of classes, but everyone traveling to campus
should travel with caution and care.
Only the Governor has the authority to close State offices or facilities. A
declaration of a state of emergency by the Governor does not by itself
close State offices and facilities. If State offices were to close in such
a situation, the closure would result from a separate action by the
Governor.
Unless the Governor issues a specific order directing non‐essential
employees whose work stations are in a specified geographic area not to
report to work, employees who do not report to work because of
extraordinary circumstances must charge leave credits other than sick
leave.
