[MUSIC] Poetry in Music Concert

The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music presents Poetry in Music, a
Symphonic Band concert that features the works of Jim Curnow, Elliot Del
Borgo, Carl Orff, Richard Strauss, and Carl Anton Wirth. Directed by
faculty member Daniel Gordon, the Symphonic Band is a blend of student and
community performers that perform every semester. This semester’s concert
will spotlight works such as Canticle of the Creatures by Curnow, Do Not Go
Gentle into that Good Night by Del Borgo, selections from Carmina Burana by
Orff, and more. Lillian Faulkner, an English and Theater student at SUNY
Plattsburgh, will recite the poetry upon which each of the pieces is based.


"This concert provides the opportunity for people to consider how music
reflects sentiments in poetry and how sounds can enhance words," stated
Gordon about the concert.

Poetry in Music will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at
the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium within Hawkins Hall. This event is free and
open to the public.
