The Empire State Service Corps recognizes the SNAP/Hunger Day of Action on
November 7. This is a New York statewide program to bring attention to
limited SNAP benefits and the critical basic needs of people in our region.
There are 26 SUNY Plattsburgh students in the Empire State Service Corps,
and many of them work in the basic needs cohort at locations including St.
Joseph's Food Bank, the Salvation Army, the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinal
Cupboard and the United Way of the Adirondack Region. We would like to
encourage students and employees who are able to donate non-perishable,
unexpired food items or funds to these organizations and others in the
North Country between now and the holiday season. In addition, Fraternity &
Sorority Life is hosting a food drive through November 16 for St. Joseph's
Outreach Center and donations can be dropped off in FS Life, ACC 205, or
Student Engagement and Leadership, ACC 106, until November 16th.
