Brought to you by the Title IX Office and the Office of Diversity, Equity,
and Inclusion

*MINK!* chronicles the remarkable journey of *Patsy Takemoto Mink* of
Hawaii who became the first woman of color elected to the U.S. Congress in
1964, and whose legacy includes her harrowing mission to co-author and
defend Title IX, the law that transformed access to education and athletics
for generations for women and girls in America. After Mink’s death in 2002,
Title IX was officially renamed the *Patsy Takemoto Mink Equal Opportunity
in Education Act.*
