Student Lunch featuring...
*Dr. Luke Tyrrell*, Associate Professor of Biology, SUNY Plattsburgh
Dr. Tyrrell researches the organization and neurobiology of visual systems
across all animals. Doing this kind of broad-scale comparative research
allows us to better understand the role that vision plays in an animal’s
everyday life. For example, he and his students have discovered that small,
predatory songbirds have hawk-like eyes, have identified which types of
visual systems are most susceptible to light pollution, and even discovered
a new type of photoreceptor in the eyes of flycatchers. Come learn all
about Dr. Tyrrell’s exciting research and how he became the scientific
advisor for a documentary film!!
*Open to all students*
*Friday, Nov 5th, **12:00 Hudson 155*
