Dear Faculty,
When advising students for the spring semester we encourage you to share
with them the option of taking the *Information Literacy Competency Exam* as
a way to meet the Information Literacy Gen Ed requirement.
Passing the LIB190 course or the Information Literacy Competency Exam meets
the Cardinal Core Information Literacy General Education foundation
requirement.
This online exam is free. Students can take it at any time in the three
weeks it is offered during advising and registration.
The Information Literacy Competency Exam will be *available online in
Brightspace from Monday, Oct. 25 through Friday, Nov. 15.*
Read full details about the exam here
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/academic-affairs/provost/competency-placement.html>
including the link to sign-up for the exam.
*Eligibility*
Students who already have a passing grade for the LIB course do not need to
take this exam.
- Students can take the exam only once.
- Students enrolled in a section of the LIB190 course are not eligible
to take the exam after the semester’s add/drop period.
We appreciate your help. If you have questions, please don't hesitate
to contact me. Thank you.
