Civil Service Law entitles employees to take up to four hours of paid leave
annually for cancer screening.
Leave for screening is not cumulative and expires at the close of business
on the last day of each calendar year.
Cancer screening includes physical exams, blood work or other laboratory
tests for the detection of cancer. Travel time is included in this
four-hour cap. Absence beyond the four-hour cap must be charged to leave
accruals. Employees are entitled to a leave of absence for screening
scheduled during the employees' regular work hours. Employees who undergo
screenings outside their regular work schedule do so on their own time.
Employees will be required to provide satisfactory medical documentation
indicating that the absence was for the purpose of cancer screening. The
supervisor must include a comment on the employees’ timesheet indicating
that they have seen this documentation, unless they prefer to send it to
Human Resource Services.
Please contact Human Resource Services at hrs at plattsburgh.edu with any
