🩵 John Proctor Is the Villain 🩵

The Department of Theatre presents John Proctor Is the Villain by Kimberly
Belflower directed by Shawna Mefferd Kelty, assistant directed by Lydya
Felix ('25), and stage managed by Suzanne Tracy ('24).

At a rural high school in Georgia in 2019, at the height of the #MeToo
movement, a group of lively teens are studying “The Crucible” while
navigating young love, sex ed, and a few school scandals. Holding a
contemporary lens to the American classic, they begin to question who is
really the hero and what is the truth, discovering their own power in the
process. Alternately touching and bitingly funny, this new comedy captures
a generation in mid-transformation, running on pop music, optimism, and
fury, writing their own coming of age story.

Content advisories: this production includes the use of profanity and deals
with sexual assault, grooming, and sexual exploitation that may be
triggering for some individuals.

The performances are Thursday April 25, Friday, April 26, and Saturday
April 27 in the Hartman Theatre. All performances are at 7:30pm. The play
runs approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. It is appropriate for ages 13+.

All performances are at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $8 for General Admission, and
$3 for SA Members. Please note: Tickets may be purchased by credit card
through Cardinal Link at https://cglink.me/2us/r378696 or cash only at the
Myers Box Office the evening of the performance.
