Tuesday Talks presents Dan Lake, Professor and Chair of the Political
Science Department at SUNY Plattsburgh, speaking on "The Politics of the
Gaza War" on *Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 4:30pm* in the Angell College
Center's Cardinal Lounge. Below is an abstract of Professor Lake's
presentation.

While the current war in Gaza can be thought of as simply the latest stage
in a long struggle, due to the sheer scale of its violence it is worth a
closer look. In this presentation, Professor Lake will explore the
political aspect of this conflict. Topics will include why Hamas carried
out such a large terrorist attack when they did, why Israel responded with
a full-scale invasion of Gaza, why it has been difficult to negotiate a
cease-fire, and the prospects of establishing a durable peace after this
war is over.
