*DISTINGUISHED VISITING ALUMNUS PRESENTATION*



SUNY Plattsburgh and the Plattsburgh Alumni Association invite you to a
special Distinguished Visiting Alumnus presentation by Tim Spofford ’71.



His talk is titled “The Legendary Doll Test and Two Black Psychologists Who
Changed History.”


Spofford is an author and copy editor.



His writing career focused on racial issues in education. Spofford’s
writing career was inspired by the May 1970 slayings on the Kent and
Jackson State campuses amid the wave of protests against racism and the
expanded war that spring in Southeast Asia.

For seven years, Spofford covered educational policymaking for the Albany
Times Union in New York’s capital city. Spofford has taught writing and
journalism in schools and colleges. He’s published articles in the New York
Times, Newsday, Mother Jones, Columbia Journalism Review and other
publications. He also worked as a copy editor, most recently at the St.
Petersburg Times in Florida.

*Where:* Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center

Copies of Spofford’s book, “What the Children Told Us: The Untold Story of
the Famous `Doll Test’ and the Black Psychologists Who Changed the World,”
will be available for purchase following the presentation. Copies are $20.

Alumni Association to honor graduates for professional achievements,
contributions to society and service to the alma mater.
