session: “FERPA for Advisors,” facilitated by the SUNY Plattsburgh Academic
Advising Office with guest Pam Munson, University Registrar.

With heightened parental/guardian involvement, advocacy, and intervention
for students, how does FERPA law guide what we can and can’t say, should
and shouldn’t do, as advisors? We will provide FERPA basics for advisors,
and talk through methods for communicating through a couple routine
scenarios that arise.

First publicized in a 9/8 email to primary advisors, coaches, and
counselors, Next in Advising content is geared toward advisor development,
but all campus staff are welcome to attend and participate. We hope you can
join us.
