SUNY Honorary Degree Nominations Open

Dear Campus Community:

SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking nominations for the Honorary Doctorate Degree from
the State University of New York, the highest form of recognition offered
by SUNY to persons of exceptional distinction.

Nominees should be distinguished individuals whose achievements and/or
contributions to society on the state, national or international levels
justify them for an honorary doctorate degree from the State University of
New York.

Please submit your nomination by Friday, Sept. 29. These may be sent
to *president_office at plattsburgh.edu
<president_office at plattsburgh.edu>*. Here are related details:

   - Nominations should include a one-page statement explaining why
   the person should be recommended for an Honorary Doctorate Degree. This
   should include information on the relevance and/or appropriateness of the
   nominee(s), their national or international reputation as well as any
   connections to SUNY Plattsburgh. Detailed curriculum vitae, reviews or
   articles about the nominee's work, and/or list of major awards can also be
   submitted but are not required at this initial stage.

   - If a nomination may be advanced, the nominator(s) may be asked to
   assist the Honorary Degree Committee in completing the justification for
   recommendation that is sent to system administration. The president will
   review the committee's recommendations prior to submitting nominations to
   the chancellor.

   - The University-wide Committee on Honorary Degrees will review all
   nominations submitted to the chancellor and then make a recommendation to
   the chancellor and SUNY Board of Trustees, which makes the determination.
