Human Resource Services is pleased to inform you of upcoming virtual
pre-retirement planning sessions being provided by the Governor’s Office of
Employee Relations (GOER) Work-Life Services (WLS). WLS will be offering
virtual Fall 2023 NYS Pre-Retirement DIRECTIONS Sessions through December
2023. Using the WebEx platform, these live sessions will be conducted
bi-weekly over two days using the following schedule and agenda.

Tuesday - Day One

 Wednesday - Day Two

10:00 am - 10:15 am Overview: NYS Pre-Retirement Planning Website/Checklist

10:15 am - 11:15 am Social Security

11:15 am - 11:30 am  Break

11:30 am - 1:00 pm New York State Health Insurance (NYSHIP)





These important and informative DIRECTIONS webinars will provide the exact
same live training as the in-person seminars, including the same valuable
information as provided by the same presenters.  As these are popular
events, prior attendance rules will continue to apply. All employees will
only be able to attend one (1) complete webinar session, one (1) time in
their career. And, when live seminars do safely return, employees who
attended these webinars will not be permitted to register and attend the
live seminar. Prior eligibility criteria will also remain consistent.


Attendance is open to employees who are at least 50 years of age, eligible
to retire in 5 years, and have NOT previously attended a DIRECTIONS
seminar.



These popular DIRECTIONS webinars are provided to NYS agencies state-wide,
with limited availability.  We ask that confirmed registrants be mindful of
their reservation and required attendance at both sessions.



Anyone interested in one of these sessions should email hrs at plattsburgh.edu
with your preferred session dates.  HRS will submit this information to
GOER, who will reply regarding seat availability and/or confirmation
information along with alternate dates, if needed.  Please note that the New
York State & Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) session is for those
employees who are enrolled in the NYS Employees’ Retirement System only.
This session does NOT apply to those employees who are enrolled in the NYS
Teachers’ Retirement System or the SUNY Optional Retirement Program.




Please Note: the deadline to register for any session is 10 days prior to
the session start date. However, these sessions are open to all state
employees and they will fill up fast!
