Campus Community:
Emergencies can arise at any time and from many causes. The first step in
preparing for emergencies is to be informed. Learn what types of disasters
could affect you and how to prepare for them. Know how you will be notified
of an emergency and what actions to take.
*Emergency Notification*
Emergency notifications may be disseminated using one or a combination of
communication methods depending upon the emergency and what segments of the
community will be targeted. Click here
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/student-affairs/emergency-management/index.html>
for more information.
SUNY NY Alert is one of the key ways the University notifies the campus
community of an emergency. Notifications may be received by phone, text
message, email, and fax. All students and employees are automatically
enrolled in SUNY NY Alert with their campus-assigned e-mail address.
Students and employees may enroll in additional methods by logging into
MyPlattsburgh <https://my.plattsburgh.edu/> and selecting "update my NY
Alert Contact Info" under NY Alert.
*Emergency Procedures*
SUNY Plattsburgh has established a set of emergency procedures for you to
follow so that the effects of an emergency can be minimized. Click here
<https://www.plattsburgh.edu/about/offices-divisions/student-affairs/emergency-management/emergency-procedures.html>
for information on what to do in a specific emergency.
Once you are familiar with the information, you will have the knowledge to
protect yourself and perhaps save the life of someone else. The more you
are prepared, the better you can act and minimize panic or confusion when
an emergency occurs.
No matter the crisis, THINK before you ACT and then act swiftly to minimize
your exposure to danger. Your safety is most important.
