The CEES Seminar Series presents:

*Leanna Thalmann ’18*, NYSDEC Research Scientist

*Using Water Quality Data to Manage Lake Resources  *

New York State has more than 7,600 freshwater lakes, ponds and reservoirs
that are used for recreation and supply water to homes, industries and
farms. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation staff
conduct water quality sampling and evaluate these waterbodies through the
LCI program and follows the 5-year rotating basin schedule of the Rotating
Integrated Basin Studies program. Monitoring data collected through this
program is used to plan, develop, and manage lake resources.

*All seminars are free and open to the public. *


*There will be a reception prior to the talk starting at 3:00 outside the
lecture hall*


*There will also be a student lunch with Leanna starting at noon, that is
open to all students, to learn about her career path and the opportunities
her degree(s) at SUNY Plattsburgh have provided her.*


*Finally, the annual CEES Chili Cook-off will take place immediately
following the seminar by the pond. It is also free and open to everyone! *
