The CEES Seminar Series presents:

Forest Stewardship and Community Wildfire Protection

In the heavily-forested Northeast U.S., caring for the land calls for
engaging communities around shared goals of stewardship. This talk will
explore avenues for advancing forest stewardship in this region under the
changing climate. A key example is the Massabesic Region Community Wildfire
Protection Plan (CWPP) being developed by a diverse partnership to protect
the communities touched by the Massabesic Experimental Forest in southern
Maine. We will outline key steps taken in firefighter training, rural water
supply plan development, hazardous fuels reduction, and gathering input
from community members. The final CWPP will capture this important
information and serve as a guiding document for future action to reduce the
risk of wildfires.


In addition to the seminar there will be a *lunch for students in Hudson
155 at 12:00 on Friday March 3rd*, to talk to Amanda and learn more about
her career. *Lunch is open to all students.*


There will also be a reception prior to the seminar starting at 3:00
outside the lecture hall
