Dear colleagues,
As you prepare your syllabi for the semester, please consider requesting
the Learning Center to visit your classroom in order to share our services
with your students. Data that we (Karin Killough, Director, and Regan
Levitte, Assistant Director & Writing Specialist) collected in Fall 2022
indicated that students who attend a class presentation are more likely to
email us about asking for help in their coursework, and feel more confident
in utilizing Cardinal Star to book appointments with Learning Center
tutors. This is especially important information for first-years and
transfer students to have, in order to stay strong and maintain success in
their academic careers.
You can request your preferred day and a back-up day, with appropriate
times, classroom and course information, and even request a peer tutor to
visit by utilizing our Class Visit Request Form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdaTx6N8XbQEzsMWORLStfWRNJYIh9d3UvOWbulGPjvcGOj7w/viewform>.
You can also request a Zoom visit, a visit for your sports team or special
program, and even have your students come to us for a tour of the center!
All class visits go over how to book appointments for content tutoring,
writing tutoring, Academic Personal Training, and utilizing STAR-NY. Visit
types vary in time, depending on if you are looking for an overview of
services or a specialized workshop.
Please email learningctr at plattsburgh.edu if you have any questions or
concerns.
