Next in Advising… Advisor Development Session (Tues, April 18, 2-2:50pm)


Please join Academic Advising and special guest Allison Heard, VP DEI, April
18, 2-2:50 pm on Zoom <https://plattsburgh.zoom.us/j/91046279466> for a
conversation about the role advisors and coaches can play in increasing our
students’ social capital in the campus community through
culturally-responsive advising approaches.


Special attention will be drawn to some of the common needs and experiences
of BIPOC, 1st gen, and low income students–and how, through awareness and
some simple acts, we can strengthen their connections, access to college
knowledge, success, senses of trust, belongingness, and well-being (all of
which play a role in retention and equity).


[Save the date announcements about this session were included in prior
emails to primary advisors and program coaches, but all staff and faculty
are invited and very welcome to attend the conversation as part of our
shared commitment to both academic success and DEI.]
