Growing up in Chicago, like so many others, Curtis found it easy to drift
into a life of violence and crime. Curtis made his way to the very top, and
quickly became one of Chicago’s most recognizable and notorious gang
members. His drug dealing created untold misery and suffering within the
community. A task force was put together for the sole purpose of bringing
him and his associates down. Curtis’ life of crime came to an abrupt halt
when he witnessed the cold-blooded murder of his best friend. With his own
death staring him in the face, Curtis came to the sudden realization that
if he wanted to survive, he’d have to change his life around. What followed
is an inspirational account of how he managed to become an
educator/administrator and earn himself two degrees, a Master’s of Arts in
Teaching and an Educational Specialist in Administration and Supervision.


Happy H.O.U.R. is known throughout the college experience; what may not be
known as well are the effects of alcohol on college campuses. This
presentation brings together a blend of alcohol awareness and college
success strategies to bring students a first-hand account of the
misfortunes of binge drinking. As a parent of four college-age children
simultaneously, Curtis Hill’s message of “We don’t drink.” went in one ear
and out the other. He developed the tools in Happy H.O.U.R. to help
students navigate social life while maintaining college success.

As a result of attending this program, students will learn:


   -

   how to develop a game plan for drinking,
   -

   the ABC’s of Happy H.O.U.R.,
   -

   the effects of alcohol on the brain and body.
