Poetry Slam 4/7 at 8 p.m.

The Poetry Slam sponsored by Sigma Lambda Upsilon, Senoritas Latinas Unidas
Sorority, Inc. will be held on Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m. in the ACC Alumni
Conference Room. This program is used to provide a safe space for writers,
poets, and even musicians to express themselves. The promotion of literacy
is made possible through the use of poetry, spoken word, and other artistic
expression. This signature event serves as a platform to empower people one
word at a time. Sigma Lambda Upsilon promotes literacy as a means of
empowerment and cultural enrichment by having students share their identity
through unique writing skills. Poetry Slam bridges the gap between students
who are not involved with fraternity and sorority life because it allows
everyone to come together for a night of artistic expression. The event is
free for everyone to attend and is divided into four segments: student slam
competition, special guest performance, raffle and an open mic portion.
This the special guest will be Marlin Santana “Good Juju”, a spoken word
artist and poet.
