October 13 @ NOON IN-PERSON Invitation: Professional Research and Development Series

On Thursday, October 13, 2022 the Center for the Study of Canada will be
hosting a lunchtime presentation as part of our Professional Research &
Development Series. Dr. Donald Abelson, Director of the Brian Mulroney
Institute of Government and Steven K. Hudson Chair in Canada-US Relations
and Professor of Political Science at St. Francis Xavier University, will
be offering a presentation titled, "Split Decision: Public Policy Centers,
Universities, and the Conflicts that Divide Them."

Dr. Abelson is a student of comparative fiscal and social policy, having
published more than 20 books and 170 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He
is currently writing a textbook with Stephen Brooks and Melissa Hausmann
entitled *Understanding American Politics*, forthcoming from the University
of Toronto Press. In addition, he is co-editing, with Stephen Brooks, a
volume for McGill-Queen’s University Press entitled *History Has Made Us
Friends: Rethinking the ‘Special Relationship’ between Canada and the
United States*. In addition to his teaching and research interests, Dr.
Abelson appears regularly on various media networks in Canada, the United
States, Europe and the Middle East to discuss Canada-US relations and US
foreign policy.

Dr. Abelson’s presentation will be held at the Center for the Study of
Canada/Institute on Québec Studies, 133 Court Street, to commence at 12
noon.
