Campus Community:
When an emergency affects you and your family, you may be already prepared
to handle the situation. However, if you have pets you may have forgotten
to include them in your emergency plans. Begin creating a pet emergency
plan by doing the following:
- Find a list of shelters and pet-friendly hotels.
- Make a pet emergency supply kit. Include food, water, medications,
leash, carrier, toy, veterinary and insurance documents, and a photograph
of your pet.
- Make sure your pets’ identification tags are up to date and secured on
their collars. Consider microchipping your pets.
- Ask a neighbor to evacuate or care for your pets in case you are not
at home.
