No Ordinary Life Film Screening

*The Department of Communication Studies presents a free screening of "No
Ordinary Life", a film about women photojournalists who gathered news from
the front lines of war. * Emmy and Peabody Award Winning director Heather
O'Neil focuses a lens on the trailblazing female photojournalists who
brought the world to our screens.

*Date: Thursday - November 17th*
*Time: Reception begins at 5:30pm, screening at 6:00pm, followed
immediately by a discussion panel *
*Place: Room 200 - Yokum Hall.  Free and open to the public.*

Panelists include Bridget Haina, Associate Professor of Digital Media
Production, Dr. John Chambers, Lecturer Communication Studies and Dr.
Connie Oxford, Associate Professor and Chair of Gender and Women's
Studies.

*Special Guest Panelist: Cynde Strande, one of the women highlighted in the
film.*  Cynde Strand is an award-winning journalist with 40 years of
experience in international news gathering, front line coverage and
documentary and appears in the film.  A CNN cameraperson/producer assigned
to bureaus in Beirut, Beijing, Nicosia, London and Johannesburg. Cynde
covered  the Tiananmen Square protests and crackdown, the first Gulf War,
the first free and democratic election in South Africa, the aftermath of
genocide in Rwanda and famine in Somalia.
