Dear Colleagues,
*The Faculty Senate Executive Committee will soon be making appointments to
the Senate's six standing committees:*
- *Academic Policies.* Formulate, review, and make recommendations
concerning academic policies of a college-wide nature, such as those
concerning admissions, graduation requirements, academic standards, and
institutional assessment.
- *Curricula & Programs.* Review and make recommendations concerning
proposed changes in the substance or status (including termination) of
existing programs and proposed new programs of instruction, research, and
service offered by the college.
- *General Education.* Develop the general education curriculum,
implement general education policies, monitor the administration of the
general education curriculum, and recommend policies on general education.
- *Resources & Planning.* Study the college’s budget and planning
documents to become thoroughly familiar with the structure, provisions, and
development of these documents, advise or consult with the college
president (or their designee), and review or formulate policy for Faculty
Senate consideration.
- *Student Life.* Review and make recommendations concerning
educational, developmental, social, cultural, and recreational policies,
programs, issues, and services that affect the quality of student life and
the campus environment.
- *Writing Across the Curriculum.* Monitor the administration of the
Writing Across the Curriculum program and recommend policies on writing
across the curriculum.
*We invite you to indicate your interest in serving by completing the short
form available here: https://forms.gle/4FSuSoLs1maFqfgb9
<https://forms.gle/4FSuSoLs1maFqfgb9>. Please complete this form by Friday,
May 6.*
*Committee membership is open to all faculty—teaching and professional—and
the term of appointment is two years.*
The Executive Committee will try to accommodate as many requests as
possible. However, in the interest of creating diverse yet reasonably sized
committees, we regret that we may not be able to place all volunteers on
their requested committees.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
All the best,
Ray Carman
