As the first step in the campus transition to the Brightspace learning
management system, this summer, our SUNY Online Degrees at Scale (SODaS)
accounting degree completion program will move from Blackboard
to Brightspace. It's been an "all hands" effort, in order to get the
courses ready for this fall. TEL will be working with the participating
faculty over the next few weeks with respect to course conversion and
development, and providing information on best practices specific to
teaching in Brightspace.

For the rest of our campus community, our plan is as follows:

   - *August 2022*
      - TEL will offer the last “Teaching Online with Moodle” multi day
workshop for faculty who need immersive training in Moodle.
   - *Fall 2022*
      - Faculty will be given the opportunity to select which of their
Moodle sites they’d like to see imported into Brightspace.
      - TEL will offer workshops on how best to prepare Moodle sites for
      the move to Brightspace.
   - *Winter 2023*
      - TEL will create development sites for all faculty in the
Brightspace environment; materials that had been targeted for migration
from Moodle will be moved to Brightspace.
   - *Winter/Spring 2023*
      - TEL will offer workshops on editing imported content in
Brightspace, developing new course content in Brightspace, and a range of
sessions on Gradebooks, Quizzes, Assignments, and Forums.
      - A full-day "Brightspace: migration in a day" workshop will make
frequent appearances on the TEL workshop schedule, designed specifically
for faculty already certified to teach online.
      - A new multi-day hybrid "Teaching Online with Brightspace" workshop
will make its first appearances on the TEL workshop schedule.
   - *Summer 2023 and beyond*
      - All online, hybrid, and web-enhanced course content will be
delivered via Brightspace: Moodle will no longer be available as
a learning
      management platform.
      - TEL workshops will be focused on Brightspace.

Please note: this schedule pertains to both academic courses, as well as
other training and team-based Moodle sites.

Please visit the Workshop Web page
<https://facweb.plattsburgh.edu/workshops/> frequently for all
scheduled TEL and Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) workshops.
